Lake Chala trip by car or Mountain bike trip 15 km of Mountain bike downhills to lake Chala go and return of 13 km of another downhill though the different direction with the option of the overnight stay and camping or at the modern luxury bring tent as the accommodation.

All the ways down hill mountain bike ride, swim, Canoeing and pedal boat can be done at the Lake Chala, which is located between the border of Kenya and Tanzania at the East side of Kilimanjaro region. We will took an hour and half for the transfer thought the high way heading o the starting point of where our down hill bike ride will start heading to the Lake Chala for the cycling for 15 km downhill on rough roads with some dust during the dry season.

Formation of the is from the from volcanic eruption at previous years, so it is now a caldera with water inside, which is more than 300 m deep and 3 km wide.

Down way heading to the lake Chala you will have a fantastic view Kenya Savannah of the Tsavo East National park in Kenya where is the source of the Elephant Migration to the Lake Chala during the dray season searching for water the vies of the Pare Mountains, Lake Jipe, and the dead volcanic lava from the eruption of Mount Chala while walking heading to the Lake.

After having arrived at the lake campsite you will descend to the lake itself for a swim. You can do some walking around the rim of the lake and by chance see some elephants, if they haven’t migrated to other places, we will heading to the Lake for the short swimming and Possible to do Canoeing with the local boats or also pedal boat can be done.

You will finish with the other 13 km of the Down hill heading to the fish point at the Holili town just at the border of the Kenya and Tanzania and then get a transport back to Moshi.

Overnight stay at the campsite or at the modern and luxury tented lodge surrounding the crater rim of the part of the lake chala with the beautifully restaurant facing the lake on to of the caldera lake rim, which will give you the possibility of doing more swimming and walking the next day. You will go back to Moshi after lunch.

The company 4×4 will accompany you as a backup vehicle during the bike ride.

Parking list.

  • Sunhat, Sun cream and rain coat (Unpredictable weather in some areas).
  • Walking shoes and bike shoes not for clip pedals if yes you can request and send us the type of it or you come with it and we attach to the bike.
  • Insect Repellent.
  • Small torch.
  • Bike helmet if you need to bring yours, bike gloves.
  • Camera (Telephoto lens recommended) with charger as it possible to charge in the jeeps.
  • Binoculars.
